Super Falcons sweep CAF Awards again as Nnadozie shines brightest in Africa

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have reaffirmed their unrivalled dominance in African women’s football, clinching the CAF Women’s National Team of the Year award for the third consecutive year - 2023, 2024, and 2025.

The prestigious announcement came on Wednesday night during the CAF Awards ceremony at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Rabat, Morocco. Nigeria edged out Ghana’s Black Queens and Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses to claim the honour, buoyed by their spectacular victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they secured a record-extending 10th continental title.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Ibrahim Gusau, received the award on behalf of the iconic team, praising their consistency, resilience, and excellence that has kept them on top of the continent for decades.

In another thrilling highlight of the night, Super Falcons and Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was crowned the 2025 CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, securing the accolade for the third year in a row.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper, who beat Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini to the award, capped off an extraordinary year for both club and country. Nnadozie’s heroics included a standout campaign at the 2024 WAFCON, where she kept four clean sheets and won Best Goalkeeper, as well as a solid club run that saw her thrive at Paris FC before moving to Brighton.

Since arriving in the Women’s Super League, Nnadozie has continued to dazzle, earning Player of the Match on her debut, picking up the WSL Save of the Month, and clinching the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award.

With these wins, the Super Falcons and Nnadozie have once again stamped Nigeria’s name boldly on African football’s highest honours, leaving no doubt that their supremacy is here to stay.
