A popular Brazilian social media influencer, Barbara Jankavski, widely known by her online persona Boneca Desumana — meaning “Inhuman Barbie” — has reportedly passed away at the age of 31 after undergoing 27 cosmetic procedures in pursuit of a doll-like appearance.

Barbara was discovered dead inside a townhouse in São Paulo, and authorities have described the circumstances surrounding her passing as “suspicious” pending autopsy results. Emergency responders were called to the property but were unable to resuscitate her.

According to local media, a friend who was with her earlier that day informed police that Barbara had recently sustained an eye injury prior to her death.

Just weeks before the incident, the influencer alarmed fans when she shared a selfie displaying severe bruising and darkened eyes following a facelift procedure. In the clip, she attempted to reassure followers of her progress, writing: “Day 3 of the facelift… improving way too fast! Almost invisible scar!” She added that the injuries appeared “scarier than they really were.”

Over the years, Barbara is believed to have spent more than £42,000 (₦87.8 million) on cosmetic surgeries, documenting her dramatic transformation online. Her journey catapulted her to viral fame, amassing over 55,000 followers on Instagram and more than 344,000 on TikTok, where she regularly posted updates on her beauty routines, lifestyle, and surgical recoveries.

Beyond her online presence, she featured in Brazilian television programs and advertising campaigns. However, followers had recently expressed concern over her unusual silence across platforms; her last Instagram post dates back to October 1, showing her meeting fellow influencer Avos Da Razao. Her final TikTok update was shared even earlier, on September 7, in a video about her spending habits.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing.
