Hurzeler unwilling to leave Brighton amid Manchester United interest

Brighton and Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler is reportedly happy at the club and has no immediate plans to leave, despite growing interest from Manchester United.
The 33-year-old German tactician has attracted attention with Brighton’s impressive performances this season, with the Seagulls emerging as one of the Premier League’s most exciting sides in both attack and defence.
Hurzeler’s achievements have strengthened his reputation as one of the most promising young managers in world football, making him an attractive candidate for Manchester United as the club considers its long-term managerial options.
United’s interest comes amid concerns over the performance of their current manager, Michael Carrick, whose team has endured a difficult start to the campaign.
The Red Devils were eliminated from the League Cup at the earliest opportunity and have managed just one league victory so far, leaving them only two points above the relegation zone.
Despite the disappointing results, reports indicate that Manchester United are not yet prepared to dismiss Carrick. However, the club could consider alternative managerial options if performances fail to improve.
Former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Antonio Conte and Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe have also reportedly featured on United’s shortlist, while Hurzeler is viewed as a potential candidate capable of bringing a progressive approach to Old Trafford.
However, according to Football Insider, Hurzeler is not eager to leave Brighton despite the reported interest from the Premier League giants.
The publication’s reporter, Pete O’Rourke, said: “Fabian Hurzeler is ‘happy’ at Brighton and has no plans to leave any time soon.”
O’Rourke added that the German remains committed to Brighton’s project at the Amex Stadium despite being linked with the Manchester United job in recent weeks.
“He is not ready to jump ship just yet,” the reporter concluded.
Meanwhile, Brighton are reportedly relaxed about the manager’s future and are not particularly concerned about the prospect of Manchester United attempting to lure him away.
O’Rourke previously reported that the Seagulls had received no contact from other clubs regarding Hurzeler, despite the growing speculation surrounding his future.
“Brighton are ‘relaxed’ about the long-term future of manager Fabian Hurzeler amid an impressive start to the season,” he said.
He added that although Hurzeler’s reputation had risen considerably in recent months, Brighton had secured his services under a contract running until the summer of 2029.
Sources cited by the publication reportedly indicated that Brighton were not surprised by the interest in their manager but remained confident that he would stay at the club.
Manchester United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, is also reportedly an admirer of Hurzeler, further fuelling speculation about a possible move to Old Trafford.
Nevertheless, with Hurzeler committed to Brighton and the club holding him to a long-term contract, Manchester United could face a difficult task if they decide to pursue him as a replacement for Carrick.
