Tinubu Appoints Enitan New Head of Civil Service of Federation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 27, 2026.

Enitan, from Osun State, will succeed Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire from the Federal Civil Service upon attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Enitan is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.

He has served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months, with postings to the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President. He is currently the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education.

According to the statement, Enitan brings extensive institutional experience and a deep understanding of the workings of the Federal Civil Service to the new position.

President Tinubu expressed appreciation to Walson-Jack for her distinguished service and contributions to reforms, innovations and improved impact in the Civil Service during her tenure.

The President charged Enitan to consolidate ongoing reforms, deepen professionalism and efficiency, and build a more effective and responsive Civil Service capable of advancing the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also urged the incoming Head of Service to promote a professional, merit-driven, accountable, innovative and responsive Civil Service.

Enitan was born on December 12, 1966. He obtained a B.Sc. in Finance and Banking from the University of Lagos in 1988 and later earned an M.Sc. in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, in 2015.
