FCT Police tighten security: Intensifies church patrols, blocked forest routes in fresh anti-Ccrime push

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intensified security patrols around churches and border communities as part of renewed efforts to safeguard residents during the ember months.

In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the police said a special operation was conducted on November 9, 2025, involving operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS), local hunters, and vigilante groups.

The day-long patrol covered forested and boundary locations linking Bwari to Kaduna State, Bwari to Niger State, and Gwagwalada to Niger State.

Running from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the exercise was designed to boost public confidence, deter criminal activities, and reassure worshippers of their safety during religious gatherings across the FCT.

As part of the operation, officers held engagements with church leaders, sensitizing them on key security precautions. These included limiting late-night services, maintaining constant communication with security agencies, and promptly reporting suspicious individuals or movements.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, also ordered the closure of identified routes exploited by criminal gangs, while insisting that strategic security posts within forest corridors remain active and strictly monitored.
