Troops make major arrests, seize terrorist supplies in Adamawa operations

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded significant successes in Adamawa State, following intensified cordon-and-search operations targeting those behind the Gamboru Market Mosque suicide bombing.

In the early hours of 5 January 2026, OPHK personnel executed a coordinated operation in Yan Lemo, Mubi South Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of eight suspects, including two key facilitators believed to be central to the bombing network.

A subsequent search of their residence yielded cash, mobile phones, identification documents, ATM cards, jewellery, and other personal effects. These items are now undergoing forensic analysis to aid ongoing investigations.

During the identification process, a previously detained suspect confirmed that the two principal suspects supplied materials used to prepare the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) for the attack.

Other occupants of the residence were also linked to the terrorist network. All suspects remain in military custody and are undergoing detailed interrogation to gather further intelligence before transfer for continued investigation.

In a related operation on 4 January 2026, OPHK troops intercepted a large consignment of suspected terrorist logistics in Mayo Nguli, Maiha Local Government Area.

Authorities seized 45 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), totaling approximately 1,125 litres, reportedly abandoned by suppliers who fled upon the troops’ arrival. The petroleum products are now in military custody pending further action.

Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of OPHK, said the operations “underscore our unwavering resolve to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt logistics and supply chains, prevent future attacks, and bring all perpetrators and collaborators of terrorism to justice.”

He further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, emphasizing that community support is critical to sustaining security across the North East region.
