Tarzoor endorses Governor Alia for second term, hails his “Transformative Leadership”

Makurdi — Former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and 2015 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Terhemen Tarzoor, has thrown his weight behind Governor Hyacinth Alia, endorsing him for a second term in office.

In a statement issued on Monday, Tarzoor said his decision was informed by the governor’s “visionary and people-centered leadership,” which, he noted, has brought about visible transformation across the state.

“In 2015, I aspired to govern Benue State with lofty dreams and an unwavering desire to uplift the lives of our people. Though that journey did not materialize, I have always believed that God’s plans are supreme and perfect in their unfolding,” Tarzoor stated.

He said he was delighted to see the same ideals he once championed being “vividly reflected” in Governor Alia’s administration.

According to him, every visit to Benue leaves him inspired by the “remarkable urban renewal” in Makurdi and the spread of development projects across rural communities.

“The renewed hope, the smiles, and the palpable satisfaction among our people speak volumes of a government working with sincerity, accountability, and a clear sense of purpose,” he said.

The former Speaker praised Alia’s leadership style, describing it as humble, disciplined, and focused on results. He particularly lauded the administration’s efforts in road infrastructure, economic diversification, human capital development, and workers’ welfare.

Tarzoor emphasized that the governor’s prudent management of state affairs and “massive infrastructural strides” were clear indicators of integrity-driven leadership.

“In light of these achievements, I wholeheartedly endorse Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia for a second term as Governor of Benue State,” he declared. “I am committed to standing with him—lending my voice, resources, and every possible support—to ensure that the progress we are witnessing is sustained and expanded for the greater good of all.”

The PDP stalwart said the Alia administration has restored public confidence in governance and inspired a new generation of Benue youths to believe in selfless leadership once again.

“Under Governor Alia’s stewardship, Benue State is experiencing a renaissance that rekindles our collective spirit as a people,” Tarzoor added. “This administration has opened a hopeful new chapter in our state’s history—one written in the ink of progress, purpose, and integrity.”

He concluded by praying for God’s continued guidance for Governor Alia and urged the people of Benue to remain united in supporting the ongoing development agenda.
