A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Valentine Chimaobi Nwajiagu, was allegedly confronted and had his vehicle damaged shortly after the 6 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony Catholic Church, New GRA, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Nwajiagu, an Assistant Parish Priest of Assumption Catholic Church, Nkwo Nike, was reportedly at St. Anthony Catholic Church as part of a priestly exchange programme when the incident occurred on Sunday.

Sources alleged that shortly after the Mass, the priest was confronted by Sir Iyke Nwatakwocha, a member of the Knights of St. John International.

The confrontation reportedly escalated, resulting in damage to the priest’s vehicle.

Some worshippers who attempted to intervene were also allegedly threatened during the incident.

The reason for the confrontation was not immediately established as of the time of filing this report.

However, some members of the congregation claimed that Nwatakwocha had allegedly confronted the priest earlier in the year at his parish.

The alleged recurrence of the incident reportedly sparked concern among worshippers, who expressed unease over the circumstances surrounding the confrontation.

The incident has since generated reactions among members of the church, with calls for clarification and appropriate steps to prevent a recurrence.
