Fubara urges supporters to remain calm amid political tension with Wike

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has appealed to his supporters to remain calm and focused despite the ongoing political tension between him and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The governor gave the assurance during the New Year banquet held at the Government House, Port Harcourt, where he downplayed the reported face-off and cautioned his allies against being distracted by what he described as unnecessary noise.

Fubara said there was no cause for concern, stressing that his camp clearly understands the situation and remains committed to its set objectives.

He explained that recent criticisms and attacks were largely coming from individuals who lack a proper grasp of the broader political picture.

Using a metaphor, the governor likened the situation to a barking dog, noting that noise often comes from confusion rather than strength. “Do not be disturbed by what is happening. Caesar once said the only reason a dog barks is because it doesn’t understand,” he told supporters.

He further explained that familiarity breeds calmness, while ignorance fuels panic. “If you have a dog in your house and it knows you, does it need to bark? When a dog starts barking, it is probably seeing something it doesn’t understand,” he added.

Reassuring his political base, Fubara maintained that his administration remains firmly on course, noting that all necessary structures have been put in place to guarantee stability in governance and ensure a smooth path toward his re-election ambition.

“We are not barking because we understand. We know where we are going, and everything required has been put in place to make the journey smooth,” the governor said.

His remarks drew applause from supporters, as he reaffirmed confidence in his leadership and the direction of his administration amid the political developments in Rivers State.
