Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has announced his decision to leave the national team’s training camp following a direct conversation with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation.

Ronaldo made the announcement in a statement, saying his decision came after the Portugal coach’s press conference and a subsequent discussion with the federation president.

“After Portugal coach’s press conference, following a direct conversation with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation, I have decided to leave the training camp,” Ronaldo said.

The veteran forward, however, did not disclose the details of the disagreement that prompted his departure, saying he would reveal the reasons behind his decision at a later date.

“In due time, I will tell all Portuguese people the truth about the reasons that led to my departure from the national team, to which I have always dedicated myself since the first day,” he added.

Ronaldo, who has been a key figure for Portugal for many years, also wished the team and his teammates well, stressing that his goodwill extended to everyone in the squad.

“Now is the time to wish good luck to Portugal and to all my teammates, without exceptions,” he said.

His departure from the training camp comes amid heightened attention surrounding the Portugal national team and could raise questions about his immediate future with the side.

Ronaldo has captained Portugal for years and played a central role in the country’s major international campaigns, making his latest decision a significant development for the national team.
