Yunusa was said to have been travelling in a blue Toyota Corolla with registration number GWA 636 CH when the gunmen attacked the vehicle.

Confirming the incident on Friday, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Afusat Saliu, said Yunusa was found dead inside the vehicle, while another occupant was abducted by the attackers.

Saliu said the vehicle was later discovered abandoned on the highway with the APC chairman’s body inside.

According to her, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, had ordered sustained operations along the affected corridor to restore security and bring the perpetrators to justice.
