Gov Alia appoints Dr. Terna Francis pioneer Executive Secretary of newly created education board

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has approved the appointment of Dr. Terna Francis as the pioneer Executive Secretary of the newly established Benue Education Quality Assurance and Examinations Board (BEQAEB).

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula.

According to the statement, the creation of the Board followed the recent passage of a law by the Benue State House of Assembly merging the former Bureau for Education Quality Assurance and the defunct Benue State Examinations Board into a single, strengthened institution.

Governor Alia described the merger as a strategic step toward repositioning the state’s education sector, aimed at ensuring that every child in Benue has access to high-quality and globally competitive learning opportunities.

He congratulated Dr. Francis on his appointment and encouraged him to deploy his experience, integrity and innovative capacity toward revitalising the state’s education assessment and quality assurance framework.

The Governor further charged the new Executive Secretary to “pursue excellence, transparency and accountability in all undertakings, in line with the administration’s vision for a renewed and results-driven education system.”

Reiterating that education remains a top priority of his administration, Governor Alia stressed that “the Board must serve as a catalyst for continuous improvement, discipline and quality standards across all levels of learning in the state.”
