CAF opens investigation into alleged misconduct at AFCON Morocco 2025 Quarter-Finals

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched an investigation into alleged cases of unacceptable behaviour involving players, officials, and members of the media during the quarter-final matches of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.

In a statement issued on Monday, CAF disclosed that it had gathered recent match reports and reviewed video evidence relating to incidents that occurred during the quarter-final fixtures between Cameroon and host nation Morocco, as well as the encounter involving Algeria and Nigeria.

According to the football governing body, the matters have been formally referred to its Disciplinary Board for thorough investigation.

CAF noted that appropriate sanctions would be imposed should any of the individuals involved be found guilty of misconduct.

CAF also confirmed that it is examining footage of an alleged incident involving members of the media who reportedly misbehaved within the mixed zone area of the stadium.

The continental football body strongly condemned any form of inappropriate conduct during its competitions, particularly actions directed at match officials or tournament organizers. CAF emphasized its commitment to upholding professionalism, discipline, and respect at all its events.

The organization reiterated that it would not hesitate to take firm action against anyone whose conduct falls short of the expected professional standards at CAF competitions.
