Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has described the killing of a housewife and her six children as a devastating tragedy that has plunged the nation into deep mourning.

In a statement issued on Monday, Obi said the gruesome incident had left Nigerians heartbroken, noting that the scale of the loss underscored the urgent need for improved security across the country.

He, however, commended the Nigerian Police Force for what he described as a swift and decisive response in apprehending the suspects linked to the crime.

“The horrifying murder of a housewife and her six children remains a deep and painful sorrow in our hearts as a nation,” Obi said, adding that prompt action by security agencies sends a strong message against impunity.

According to him, sustained, firm and intelligence-driven operations by security institutions would significantly reduce criminal activities in communities nationwide.

Obi further stressed that consistent professionalism and results-oriented policing are critical to rebuilding public confidence and demonstrating that Nigeria’s security challenges can be effectively addressed.
