Lagos Police invite Pastor Chris Okafor over alleged sexual offences, appeal for public cooperation

The Lagos State Police Command has invited Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, in connection with allegations of multiple rape, other sexual offences, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace in the state.
According to the police, the cleric was served an invitation letter through his legal representative and is expected to report at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 10 a.m., to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the department.
In a statement issued on Sunday night by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, ordered a thorough, discreet, and professional investigation into the allegations, which he described as serious and capital in nature.
CP Jimoh also directed that adequate security and protection be provided for the alleged victims, urging them and other potential complainants to come forward and report at the SCID, Panti, where investigations have already commenced.
The police assured members of the public that the identities of victims and witnesses would be treated with strict confidentiality and fully protected.
The Command further appealed to individuals with credible information or evidence relevant to the case to assist investigators without fear or apprehension.
Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to professionalism, transparency, and impartiality, CP Jimoh stressed that no individual is above the law, regardless of status or influence. He added that all allegations would be investigated in accordance with the law to ensure justice and the continued maintenance of public order in Lagos State.
