Navy troops rescue seven kidnap victims, kill insurgents in Kaduna operations

The Nigerian Navy says its troops have rescued seven kidnapped victims and neutralised several violent extremist insurgents during coordinated operations in Kaduna State under Operation Fansan Yamma.

Director of Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, disclosed this on Tuesday, noting that the successes were recorded in separate offensives across the state.

According to him, personnel at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ibira responded to distress calls along the Doka–Ibira axis on April 18, engaging insurgents in a gun battle that forced them to flee and abandon their captives.

Five victims were rescued, four of whom sustained gunshot injuries and were taken to a hospital in Idon, while one later died.

The victims’ vehicle was also recovered.
In another operation on April 20, troops of the 2 National Mission Force Brigade, acting on intelligence, ambushed insurgents at Anguwan Haske, killing one and recovering an AK-47 rifle without recording casualties.

Similarly, personnel at FOB Dokan Karji responded to an abduction incident in Kushere Village, engaging the attackers and successfully rescuing three victims unharmed.

Folorunsho said the operations highlight the Navy’s commitment to counter-terrorism efforts and urged the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies.
