Dr. Grace Adagba bags Woman of the Year 2025 award for transforming Benue’s basic education sector

In recognition of her transformative impact on basic education in Benue State, Dr. Grace Adagba, Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has been named Woman of the Year 2025 by Wood House Entertainment.

The award was presented during the 10th Made in Benue All-White Party, an annual celebration organized by the entertainment company to honor individuals making notable contributions to the state.

According to Emmanuella Akese, Information Officer at SUBEB, the award celebrates Dr. Adagba’s leadership in driving educational reforms and improving learning outcomes across the state’s public schools.

Presenting the award on behalf of Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, Deputy Governor, Sam Ode praised Dr. Adagba’s dedication and commitment.

“Dr. Grace Adagba is a woman of remarkable virtue and a visionary leader. She has championed the transformation of basic education in Benue State and continues to be a key agent of positive change in governance,” he said.

Dr. Adagba, visibly honoured by the recognition, dedicated the award to the children, parents, and people of Benue State, highlighting that education is a collective responsibility.

“This award is a motivation to do even more. It belongs to every child and every parent who believes in the power of education,” she said.

The ceremony also showcased the talents of young learners, as winners of the Made in Benue Basic Schools Talent Hunt delighted guests with performances that highlighted the creativity and potential of Benue’s youth.

The event underscored the progress made in the state’s basic education sector and served as a platform to encourage continued community involvement in the pursuit of quality education.
