Benue Health Sector Reform: Commissioner Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Healthcare

The Benue State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Ogwuche Ejeh Paul, has reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring that quality healthcare services remain accessible to all residents of the state.

In demonstration of this commitment, the Commissioner, represented by Dr. Ekoja Godwin and another official presented a consignment of essential drugs to the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Veronica Garaba, at the NYSC Secretariat in Makurdi.

The gesture, made on behalf of the Ministry, underscores Dr. Ogwuche’s belief that healthcare is a fundamental right and not a privilege reserved for a few. He emphasized that as the state’s chief health officer, his responsibility is to promote wellness, prevent disease, and ensure that every individual in Benue, including visitors, has access to medical support.

Dr. Ogwuche’s ongoing reforms within the health sector have continued to reflect a leadership approach focused on revitalizing healthcare infrastructure, enhancing service delivery, and fostering a culture of preventive medicine across the state.

In her response, Mrs. Garaba expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for what she described as a thoughtful and impactful gesture. She noted that the administration’s emphasis on human-centered governance is already evident across sectors—particularly in health, where lives are being positively affected daily.

The intervention further reflects the visionary leadership of the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, whose appointment of capable and reform-driven individuals like Dr. Ogwuche Ejeh Paul continues to inspire renewed hope among citizens.

As the health sector reform progresses, Dr. Ogwuche restated his resolve to build a healthier Benue where no one is left behind—including the state’s corps members.
