Army assures Plateau cleric of protection amid alleged assassination threats

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Jos, and Commander of the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), Major General E. F. Oyinlola, has assured Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo of maximum security following claims that his life is under threat for speaking against the killing of Christians in Northern Nigeria.

In a video circulating on social media, the senior military officer was seen addressing the clergyman during a visit to his church in Jos. The visit followed reports that some unnamed groups had allegedly marked Rev. Dachomo for assassination over his outspoken condemnation of attacks on Christian communities.

While addressing the congregation, Major General Oyinlola commended the pastor’s boldness and reaffirmed that both divine and military protection are guaranteed.

“Pastor, I heard you say that you are ready to die, put your life. I want to assure you that nobody can kill you until God says it’s time for you to come home,” he declared, drawing applause from worshippers. The clip has since gone viral on social media, reigniting conversations about the safety of citizens who speak against injustice and religious violence.

Rev. Dachomo, known for his vocal criticism of insecurity and advocacy for peace across Plateau State, has consistently urged authorities to protect vulnerable communities from recurring attacks.

Major General Oyinlola reiterated that the Nigerian Army remains committed to safeguarding all citizens, irrespective of religious affiliation, while working to ensure lasting peace in the North-Central region. He stressed that no Nigerian should live in fear for speaking the truth or calling for justice.
