Adagba joins Tinubu as FG launches five flagship programmes to boost education, governance

The Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other top government officials at the launch of five strategic flagship programmes aimed at accelerating human capital development and improving public service delivery across Nigeria.

The programmes, unveiled at the State House Banquet Hall, Aso Villa, Abuja, are part of the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda and are designed to strengthen social protection, education, healthcare, governance and climate-resilient infrastructure.

President Tinubu, who was represented by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, said the five initiatives—NG-CARES, SOLID, HOPE-GOV, HOPE-EDU and HOPE-PHC—would be implemented in partnership with state governments, the World Bank and other development partners.

According to the President, the programmes are intended to enhance access to basic services, improve learning outcomes in schools, strengthen governance, revitalise primary healthcare and expand social protection in line with the National Development Plan 2026-2030.

A statement by the Special Assistant on Corporate Communications and Community Engagements to the SUBEB Chairman, Msughter Ataigbough, said Dr. Adagba attended the event alongside governors, ministers, Executive Chairmen of State Universal Basic Education Boards, national representatives and heads of key implementing institutions.

The statement noted that Dr. Adagba's participation underscored Benue State's commitment to aligning with national education priorities, particularly the HOPE-EDU programme, which complements Governor Hyacinth Alia's ongoing reforms in the basic education sector.

According to the statement, Benue has already institutionalised key education reforms, including the monthly N150 million School Grant Scheme for heads of public primary schools and the training of over 8,000 teachers in the last three years.

The statement added that the reforms are aimed at improving learning outcomes, strengthening school management and ensuring equitable access to quality basic education across the state.
