Varsity lecturer dies in hotel room after alleged encounter with 21-year-old sex worker

A senior lecturer at Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma, Dr Matthew Uwuigbe, has allegedly died in a hotel room following an encounter with a 21-year-old sex worker.

Uwuigbe was allegedly found dead in the hotel room after the encounter, prompting the police to commence investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

It was gathered that police have arrested the 21-year-old woman and two other persons in connection with the incident.

The identities of the two other suspects were not immediately disclosed as of press time.

Sources said the deceased lecturer had lodged in the hotel before the incident occurred, while details of what transpired between him and the woman remained unclear.

Police detectives have since taken over the matter and are expected to unravel the circumstances leading to the lecturer's death.

The body of the deceased has reportedly been deposited in a morgue for autopsy, while the suspects remain in police custody as investigation continues.

The police have not officially disclosed the cause of death, and it was unclear whether the incident was connected to any criminal act.
