Troops repel ISWAP attack on Borno Base, foil assaults on farmers in Gwoza, uncover illegal mining site in Kaduna

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled an early-morning attack by ISWAP/JAS terrorists on the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Miyanti, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

A reliable military source at the Army Headquarters told newsmen that the terrorists launched the assault in the early hours of November 18, but were met with heavy resistance.

According to the source, swift reinforcement from the 21 Special Armoured Brigade overpowered the attackers.

“The troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to withdraw and allowing our forces to fully re-occupy the base,” he said.

Troops Rescue Farmers in Gwoza

The source also disclosed that troops of the 192 Battalion and 26 Task Force Brigade responded to a distress call from farmers in the Warabe and Sava-Dure communities of Gwoza LGA, where terrorists had launched attacks on civilians.

“Troops arrived promptly and restored normalcy in the affected communities,” he added.

He noted that across other sectors of the North-East theatre, troops continued aggressive operations under Operation Desert Sanity IV with no major incidents reported.

Illegal Mining Site Discovered in Kaduna

In the North-West, troops of the 4 Demo Battalion and the 11 Field Engineer Regiment, operating under Operation FANSAN Yamma, uncovered a newly established illegal mining site at the Fatika Junction along the Dogon Dawa–Old Kuyello Road in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The troops later engaged three fleeing terrorists in the Gobarawa and Nachibi areas, recovering two abandoned motorcycles.

Troops Respond to Isolated Killing in Plateau

In Plateau State, troops under Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) responded to a report of an isolated killing in Riyom LGA. They also rescued a driver who had earlier been abducted by armed robbers along the Bokkos–Barkin Ladi Road.

Search and clearance operations to track down the perpetrators are ongoing, the source said.
