Security operatives have arrested suspected kidnappers and recovered a firearm as well as ransom money following the abduction of a woman in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, LGA, of Enugu State.

The victim, Mrs. Joseph Victoria, was reportedly kidnapped on Friday, April 10, 2026, along Umeje Road in Adani. Her abductors initially demanded a ransom of N40 million for her release.

However, sources disclosed that her husband was only able to raise N2 million, which was eventually paid to the kidnappers.

Following the incident, a joint security operation was launched involving personnel who collaborated with troops of the 82 Division Garrison in Adani. The coordinated effort led to the arrest of the suspects.

During the operation, security operatives recovered one pump-action rifle and the N2 million ransom earlier paid by the victim’s family.

The suspects, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Adani under the Enugu State Police Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Authorities commended the swift response and collaboration among security agencies, noting that the operation highlights ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping and related crimes in the state.
