FJDP distributes dignity, hygiene kits to vulnerable IDPs in Makurdi

The Foundation for Justice, Development and Peace (FJDP), the humanitarian arm of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, has distributed dignity and hygiene kits to vulnerable households at the International Market Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Makurdi, Benue State.

The intervention followed a data-capturing exercise conducted among Yelewata IDPs living in the camp and was carried out under the Benue IDP Response Project, implemented by FJDP and funded by Save the Children International (SCI).

Speaking during the distribution, the Coordinator of FJDP, Rev. Fr. Philip Apuu, said the initiative was designed to improve the well-being of displaced persons by promoting proper hygiene practices.

He noted that the provision of the kits would help reduce the risk of communicable diseases while restoring dignity to people affected by displacement.

Fr. Apuu explained that the project specifically targeted households with women, children, the elderly, and Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs), who are often the most vulnerable in IDP camps.

He expressed appreciation to Save the Children International for supporting efforts aimed at improving the living conditions of displaced persons in Benue State.

Some beneficiaries of the intervention expressed gratitude to FJDP and Save the Children International, describing the support as timely and impactful in easing their daily challenges at the camp.
