Benue 2027: Byuan leads “Bucket Revolution,” promises 2 million votes for Tinubu

A leading governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Dr. Mathias Byuan, has vowed to deliver at least two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

He made the pledge in Makurdi at the weekend during the rollout of ward and local government chapters of the Ahmed Bola Tinubu (ABT) Support Group, alongside the unveiling of his “Bucket Revolution” initiative aimed at boosting grassroots mobilisation for the President.

Byuan said Tinubu’s administration has made significant contributions to the development of Benue, insisting that the state owes the President strong political support in return.

“From infrastructure to appointments, President Tinubu has demonstrated that Benue matters. Projects like the Buruku Bridge, Wurukum flyover, and the Makurdi–Enugu road dualisation are clear indicators. We cannot ignore this level of commitment,” he said.

He added, “In 2027, Benue will speak loudly with not less than two million votes for President Tinubu. That is our collective responsibility.”

The former Executive Director at the Federal Housing Authority disclosed that his decision to join the governorship race followed widespread calls for a new direction in the state.

“I resigned my position because I believe the time has come to serve my people directly. Benue needs leadership that is focused, accountable, and people-oriented,” Byuan stated.

He criticised the state of development in Benue, arguing that increased federal allocations have not translated into visible progress, while insecurity continues to threaten livelihoods.

According to him, “Despite the resources available to the state, the impact is not commensurate. Our people deserve better infrastructure, improved security, and real economic opportunities.”

Outlining his agenda, Byuan promised to tackle insecurity head-on, improve living standards through targeted welfare policies, and reposition the state’s economy for productivity and investment.

“We will create a system that works for everyone, including a ‘stomach infrastructure’ framework to cushion economic hardship, while also driving long-term development. Benue must move beyond dependence on civil service,” he said.

He also pledged to run an inclusive administration that would accommodate all interests across the state.

Speaking at the event, the APC State Chairman, Dr. Austin Agada, represented by his deputy, Hon. Benedict Aluga, praised Byuan for strengthening party cohesion and expanding its support base.

Ambassador Philip Eche, in his goodwill message, expressed confidence in Byuan’s leadership, noting that “Zone C stands firmly with him and believes in his vision.”

Similarly, the Director-General of the ABT Support Group, Dr. Kaaulu Akerkpev, said Byuan’s emergence offers an opportunity for the state to reclaim its development trajectory.

APC chieftain, Chief Jime Akaaka, described the aspirant as “a dependable and credible option for the future of Benue,” urging residents to rally behind what he called a genuine rescue effort.

The gathering drew a large turnout of party faithful, stakeholders, and supporters, signalling the start of intensified political mobilisation in the state ahead of the 2027 polls.
